Vincenza Vicari-Bentley, AFC Empowering Financial Wellness Program Coordinator What’s not to love about the holiday season? I’m always down for an excuse to hang out with my loved ones and eat lots of delicious home cooked food. My all time favorite tradition this time of year is talking about our goals for next year. Each family member gets to share what’s on their list of what they would like to accomplish. It can be something big or small but it’s an insightful and relaxed conversation.
Gathering with the family this month can also be an opportunity to talk about estate planning. Ask your parents or grandparents if they have plans in place about what they would like to have happen when they are no longer with us. Talk with your spouse or partner about what you would want to have in place for your own family. It’s not always an easy conversation, but we have a free resource you can download if you need some guidance about how to start the conversation or what documents you’d need as part of your estate plan! The Estate Planning Toolkit can help you gather the information and securely store and organize the important documents needed for the efficient planning of your own estate plan or help your loved ones with their estate planning needs. Having an estate plan in place is one of the kindest, loving things we can do for our family. Download today!
