What if I told you one sentence could shape your whole year, and even beyond? “What is that sentence?” you may be asking. The beginning of the new year is the time that many people self reflect and decide what they would like to accomplish. We want this year to be different from any other. We want to invite you to adopt a 'money mantra' to guide your financial decisions this upcoming year.
A mantra is a statement, word or phrase that is repeated frequently to heighten one’s awareness or concentration. Your thoughts are powerful and propel you forward or backward. A positive money mantra and mindset is crucial in successfully influencing your daily routine leading to increased control of your financial life.

Your money mantra can really be any word or phrase that you repeat regularly to help keep you focused on positive financial choices. To help get your creative juices flowing, here’s a list of a few examples. Feel free to choose one of these or make your own:
  • “I give myself permission to prosper and grow.”
  • “I am capable of anything I put my mind to.”
  • “I am in control of my spending decisions.”
  • “My financial fate is not set in stone.”
  • “I have a healthy relationship with money.”
  • “I am worthy of investing in myself. I am my best investment.”
  • “I choose to feel good about where I am right now and look forward to the future I am working on creating for myself. My future will be brighter than my past”
  • “My net worth doesn’t determine my self worth.”
  • “I have the power to create the success and build the wealth that I desire.”
  • The mindset of yet- simply add the word yet to the end of any phrase that may be discouraging or negative to you (ex: ‘I am not good at budgeting…yet’, ‘I don’t have enough money for _____…yet’, ‘I am not happy with my financial situation…yet).
Take a few minutes to reflect on a money mantra that will shape your savings and spending habits this year.  Write your mantra down on a piece of paper and hang it somewhere you will see it often. Set it as the wallpaper on your phone or other device, so it can influence your day-to-day actions.

These phrases can be key to developing a mindset of change, growth and optimism that you are in the driver’s seat of your future, financially and overall. Let us know on social media what money mantra you adopt for this coming year!
