July Money Moves

July marks halfway through the calendar year! It’s a great time to reassess progress towards your 2023 personal finance goals and consider how to best plan for what’s still to come. Here are my top three money moves for July. 
 

1. Preform a mid-year budget checkup. If you’re like me and you automate all your investments, savings, bills, etc. then you’re probably due for a check-in particularly when it comes to automated subscription services and discretionary spending. Are you fully utilizing everything you send automatic payments for each month? Is spending on discretionary expenses like groceries, fast food, and entertainment still in check?
2. Plan a stay-cation. Conquer the FOMO, stay local, and be a tourist on your own turf.  You’ll dish out less money and make memories while you continue to save for a big-ticket vacation down the road.
3. Take advantage of July sales. Lots of retailers advertise sales in July. Consider your back-to-school needs, holiday gift-giving budget, etc. and only take advantage of items that fill your current needs and serve your purposes.
